Overview of the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Tank System Design Project

Regu Ramoo, Director of Engineering at Altair Productdesign explains the work conducted with with Prof. Lamb of the University of Michigan to improve the design of a LNG tank system. Altair ProductDesign developed an innovative central interconnecting system that simultaneously mitigated hydrostatic loads while keeping the sloshing to a minimum. This design improvement retains all the advantages of the originally conceived idea of confining the liquid in a series curved shells so as to ensure that the structure is primarily loaded in a membrane mode rather than in a bending mode.

FEKO Webinar: The Use of Model Decomposition and Equivalent Sources for Faster Simulation

System level simulation often involves multiscale type problems, where the structure might be electrically large while also containing details which are significant to the RF performance. These types of simulations can typically require large computational resources. Model decomposition enables these problems to be solved in two steps by using an equivalent (simulated or measured) representation of the transmitting or receiving antennas. Significant reductions in computational requirements can be achieved with this approach.
